2013 NWPCC CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING















Drop-in activities for kids with their parents. Several sessions daily. Learn and play together! Ages 12 and under admitted by donation. Kids under 18 remain under parents' supervision at all times.

Friday Aug 2nd

8:30-11:30 am, 1-2:15 pm & 3-4:15 pm

Design Native Plant Cards
Paul Elliott

Come make collectible plant cards and learn about plants native to the Pacific Northwest. Students will design cool plant ID cards and make drawings of native plants, like blackberries, nettles and lavender. We will have teas (caffeine free!) from native plants.

6:15-9:15 pm

Kids Movie (TBA)
Sewing Craft

Tired? Come watch a movie or sew together a lavender satchel or pillow with us.

Saturday August 3rd

10-11:15 am & 1-2:15 pm & 3-4:15 pm

Map Making

There will be three 1hr and 15min mapmaking sessions on Saturday. Maps can be made of real or imagined places. Kids with the itch to explore will go on a mini field-trip and document their new newly discovered territory.

2-3 pm

Symbols 2 Stories
Willi Paul

Kids will work with permaculture + Transition symbols using 12" x 12" tag board squares. Kid's will describe their individual symbols and then work as a group to produce a simple vision or story.

FACILITATORS

Paul Elliott, Coordinator
Paul is an artist with a passion for education. His passion for working with young people comes from his vision for a future where people have the wisdom it takes to work together. He has worked in elementary schools in Olympia, WA and Columbus, OH and currently tutors in the Olympia area. He holds a BA from The Evergreen State College.

Stevie Smitty is a musician and a naturalist, a maker of maps real and imagined. He currently works with the Washington Conservation Corps at Nisqually Land Trust. He studied environmental science at The Evergreen State College.

Willi Paul is a New Mythologist & Transition Entrepreneur from the Bay Area. He has interviewed over 475 global leaders for PlanetShifter.com Magazine and created games for children in the Transition.
